On November 14, 2024, we participated in a event: Empowering research careers: HRS4R and CoARA in focus (The Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment). The lecture was held at the INL – International Iberian Laboratory for Nanotechnology in the city of Braga in Portugal.
The first speaker was Isabelle Halleux with the topic HRS4R’s impact on researchers’ careers. Isabelle is a prominent figure in the field of research and education. She is an engineer in geology and holds a PhD in applied sciences from the University of Liège, Belgium. She currently works as the director of research administration at this university.
The second speaker was Barbara Wahlova with practical examples of HRS4R strategy implementation at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic. The lecture was entitled research evaluation: The path to career advancement – interesting examples from practice in creating the process of evaluating researchers. Barbora has extensive experience in the field of human resources management and actively participates in projects aimed at improving the working conditions and career development of researchers. She is an HRS4R evaluator for the European Commission.
The third speaker was Miklós Gyorffi, who is a senior EU policy analyst and a member of the CoARA initiative. Miklós is an expert in the field of nanotechnology and research. His lecture focused on the activities, goals, activities and results of the CoARA initiative.
The fourth lecture, delivered by Bruno Béu, had the task of introducing the individual working groups that are part of the CoARA initiative. Bruno is an advisor to the board of FCT (Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia) and co-chair of the National Chapter of the CoARA.
We thank INL for the invitation and especially for the new knowledge, inspiration and practical advice that we can use in the management of projects and in the implementation of the HRS4R strategy at the Slovak Academy of Sciences.
